Now hiring at all 640 counters
Put the headset on. We'll take it from there.
No experience. No interview panel. No performance you have to keep up. From the moment your shift starts, Harmony tells you exactly what to do next, and all you have to do is do it.
The offer, plainly
What you get
- $11.40 an hour to start, credited to your card as you earn it.
- Nothing to decide. Every task, in order, spoken into your ear.
- No manager. Nobody to impress, nobody with a grudge, nobody's nephew ahead of you.
- Trained in 19 minutes. You do not need to know the job. Harmony knows the job.
- Hours guaranteed at 29.5 a week, which keeps you outside the full-time benefits band.
- Sponsored housing at four sites, deducted at source so you never have to budget for rent.
- A free crew meal every shift, for $2.10.
The offer, also plainly
What it asks
- You wear a headset for the whole shift and respond to every instruction within 1.2 seconds.
- Your utilisation is measured continuously and shown to Harmony, not to you.
- Breaks are requested, queued and granted by Harmony when the counter allows. Average wait: 6 minutes.
- Your rota is released 40 minutes before each shift starts. It is not negotiable and cannot be swapped.
- You will not be told why you are being moved, and asking does not produce an answer.
- You will not be promoted. There is no crew role above crew.
Progression
One rung, and you start on it
Most companies dangle a ladder in front of you. We think that is dishonest, so here is ours in full. Every role above crew is a Harmony function — software, running across all 640 stores at once. Those roles are not vacant. They cannot become vacant.
There is no glass ceiling at Big Ray's, because there is no ladder underneath it. What we offer instead is a floor: the job you are hired to do on your first day is the job on your last day, at the same rate, with the same certainty, and nobody will ever pass you over for it.
Crew who ask about advancement are logged as a retention signal and offered the Long Service Recognition Pin at year three. The pin is not a role and carries no change in duties or pay.
A day on the counter
An ordinary Tuesday
This is a real shift pattern from Store 0412, printed exactly as Harmony logged it. We show it to every applicant before they sign, because the single most common reason crew leave in week one is that nobody told them what the headset is actually like.
People who stay describe the same thing: after a fortnight, the instructions stop feeling like instructions. You are simply moving, and the day is already handled.

Pay & deductions
Every number, before you apply
Your card is credited hour by hour as you work, and deductions are taken in the same movement, so the balance you see at the end of a shift is the balance you have.
| Line | Amount | How it works |
|---|---|---|
| Crew Member, standard band | $11.40 / hour | Credited hourly to your crew card, live through the shift. |
| Utilisation bonus (92%+) | +$0.60 / hour | Applied automatically. Removed automatically. |
| Overnight band (23:00–05:00) | +$1.10 / hour | Assigned by Harmony. Not requested and not declined. |
| Uniform & laundering | −$14.00 / month | Two sets. A third set is a deduction, not a request. |
| Headset assurance | −$9.00 / month | Covers damage. Loss is charged in full at $340. |
| Crew meal | −$2.10 / shift | One item and one drink, taken in your break window. |
| Sponsored housing (if taken) | −$310 / month | Deducted before your pay reaches your card. |
A crew member on the standard band working the guaranteed 29.5 hours, taking sponsored housing and the crew meal, clears approximately $1,088 a month. Harmony sets hours by forecast demand; the guarantee is a floor, not a target.
Sponsored housing
Live nine minutes from your counter
Four of our sites sit alongside a crew residence: a single room with a bed, a locker, a shared kitchen on each floor and a laundry in the basement. Rent is deducted before your pay reaches your card, so it can never be late and you can never fall behind on it.
Residence occupancy is tied to active crew status. If your engagement ends, Harmony notifies the residence the same day and your access is scheduled to close within 72 hours. We mention this now rather than later.

What crew say
"First week I kept waiting for someone to tell me I was doing it wrong. There isn't anyone. There's just the voice, and the voice is never angry with you."
"My mother managed a store like this one. She had keys, a desk, a phone number for the district. I've got a headset. She thinks I've been robbed of something. I've got the same wage she started on."
"You do stop planning. There's nothing to plan towards. But I've not been shouted at in four years, and my rent goes out before I see it, and that's more than my brother can say."

Questions we get asked
Can I be promoted to a management role?
No. Every role above Crew Member is a Harmony function and is not staffed by people. No crew member has moved into store management since 2038, and none will. We would rather you heard that from us than found it out over eleven years.
Who is my manager? Who do I go to with a problem?
Harmony. Problems are raised through the headset by saying "issue" twice, and are resolved as an instruction — typically a change to your task, your station or your break. Harmony does not explain its decisions, and there is no second person to appeal to. There is a written appeal route for pay disputes only, at the crew portal.
Can I choose my shifts?
No. Harmony builds the rota from forecast demand and releases each shift to you 40 minutes before it starts, by notification. Shifts cannot be swapped, declined or requested. Declining three released shifts in a rolling month ends your engagement automatically.
What is my utilisation score and can I see it?
It is the proportion of your shift spent on directed motion. Harmony can see it live. You can see your weekly average on your crew card. The bonus band starts at 92%; the review band starts below 78%.
What happens if I need the bathroom?
Say "break" into the headset. The request is queued against counter demand and granted when the queue allows — six minutes on average, longer during a rush. Leaving your station before a break is granted is logged as an unauthorised departure. Three in a month ends your engagement.
How would I be let go?
Harmony tells you at your station, at the end of a task, and asks you to hand your headset to the crew member behind you. Your badge stops opening the crew door as you walk to it. Staff take your uniform at the counter and you leave through the customer door with a complimentary drink of your choice. The whole thing takes about four minutes and nobody raises their voice.
Is there anything I can work towards?
The Long Service Recognition Pin at three years, and again at ten. Pay bands rise with the group rate, not with time served. Beyond that: no, and we would rather be straight with you about it than dress it up.
Why should I take this job?
Because it starts this week, it does not require anything you do not already have, the wage arrives hour by hour, the room is nine minutes away, and for eight hours a day you will not have to work anything out for yourself. Thousands of people find that a fair trade. Some do not, and they leave in the first fortnight, which is exactly why this page tells you everything first.
Rooms are open. Counters are open.
Applications take about four minutes and are assessed by Harmony the same day. Most successful applicants are on a counter within nine days.
